REARING THE HERD

Scurf Dyke's lush fields provide most of the herd’s needs.

The cattle initially graze on the rich, green pastures of the farm, while the Thompsons and their team cultivate the ingredients needed to meet the unique dietary requirements of the Freedown Hills program.

As the herd is weaned off grass, the farm grown grains, cereals and maize silage, combined with the locally sourced olive pieces are introduced to their diet.

The end result is exceptional British beef adorned with remarkable umami undertones, combined with a delicate  tenderness that imparts a unique delicacy to the meat uncommonly found in other wagyu.
